Position: Cafe Assistant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a friendly, efficient, and motivated Cafe Assistant to join our team. As a Cafe Assistant, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring a pleasant dining experience for our customers. You will be responsible for preparing and serving beverages and food items, maintaining cleanliness, and supporting the overall operations of the cafe.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service:
    • Greet customers warmly and provide excellent service throughout their visit.
    • Take customer orders accurately, answering any questions about the menu.
    • Serve food and beverages promptly, ensuring all orders are correct and well-presented.
    • Handle customer inquiries and resolve any issues or complaints in a professional manner.
  • Food and Beverage Preparation:
    • Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, such as coffee, tea, and smoothies.
    • Assist in the preparation of light meals, sandwiches, salads, and baked goods.
    • Ensure food safety standards are maintained during preparation and serving.
  • Cash Handling:
    • Operate the cash register, process transactions accurately, and handle cash/credit payments.
    • Balance the cash register at the end of the shift and report any discrepancies.
  • Cafe Maintenance:
    • Keep the cafe area clean and organized, including tables, counters, and equipment.
    • Restock supplies, such as coffee beans, milk, and condiments, as needed.
    • Assist with opening and closing duties, including setting up and shutting down equipment.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Work closely with other team members to ensure smooth cafe operations.
    • Assist in training new staff members, if required.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • Previous experience in a cafe, restaurant, or customer service role is preferred but not required.
    • Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation is an asset.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and hygiene.
    • Basic math skills for handling transactions.
